About Us
At WORK 4 A LIVING, we do not believe that poverty is necessary. We believe individuals can be empowered with excellence and equipped with practical skills to confidently enter the workplace, not through handouts, but through true empowerment. We exist to help people break the cycle of poverty for good, in their own lives, families and communities.
In 2007, we started planting WORK 4 A LIVING training centers where the unemployed could come and be fully equipped to join the workforce or start a business. We saw that without networks, family help, or a knowledge of how to pursue a job or career, many people simply did not know how to progress and thrive.
To us, this means not only educating people with skills that are valuable, but equipping them with mindsets that empower them to own their circumstances, thrive in their daily work, and have hope for the future.

Our Global Model
WORK 4 A LIVING equips people to move from unemployment, poverty and dependency to lives of dignity, purpose and economic freedom through employment, entrepreneurship, financial literacy and discipleship.
As NPOs, churches and community organisations in other countries adopted the model, WORK 4 A LIVING grew into an international network. In 2016, WORK 4 A LIVING Inc. was formally established in the United States as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, with our international office relocating to the US in 2022 to support a growing global network of centres. Today, we operate in 18 countries, primarily across Sub-Saharan Africa and Central/South America.
Rather than operating every local program ourselves, we train, launch and mentor independent W4AL Hubs around the world. Each W4AL Hub is established and operated by its own independent legal entity, whether a church, nonprofit or community organisation, which understands the needs of its local community. This allows leadership to remain local while benefiting from shared curriculum, coaching, mentoring and quality standards.
The Role of WORK 4 A LIVING Inc
The U.S. head office exists to strengthen the global network by providing:
● Curriculum and program development
● Training and mentoring
● Quality assurance
● Coaching and ongoing support
● Innovation and best practices
● International expansion
Independent WORK 4 A LIVING Hubs
Every W4AL Hub:
● Is an independent legal entity.
● Has its own governance, leadership and finances.
● Complies with the laws of its own country.
● Raises and manages its own funding.
● Delivers the WORK 4 A LIVING model within its local community.
Local Leadership. Global Impact.

The Problem
Most people wanting to work or start a business aren't short on effort, they're short on the things no one ever taught them: how to walk into an interview, how to handle a first paycheck, how to price a product, how to earn an employer's or a customer's trust. That gap is what keeps good people stuck outside the workforce, stuck in the same entry-level job for years, or stuck with a business idea that never gets off the ground.
The Solution
WORK 4 A LIVING equips everyday students with practical training that builds professionalism, work ethic, financial literacy and business skills, so they walk into a job with excellence, keep it, and know exactly what it takes to get promoted, or walk into their own business knowing how to price, sell, and build something that lasts. For many, it's the first real chance to break out of a situation they thought they were stuck in for good.

How It Works
We don't run every centre ourselves. We train facilitators to start their own. Each facilitator is an entrepreneur in their own right, someone who understands their community from the inside, and who we equip to launch and run an independent WORK 4 A LIVING centre. From there, each centre operates as its own self-sustaining entity, with WORK 4 A LIVING providing the curriculum, training, mentoring and quality assurance behind the scenes. It means leadership stays local, while every centre benefits from a shared, proven model.
As a student, every class is hands-on and practical, not just theory. You'll take courses covering job readiness, business and entrepreneurship skills, and computer-based upskilling, all built around a foundation of excellence and mindset change. You'll walk away with real, usable tools: the mindset, the work ethic, and the skills to actually put what you've learned into practice from day one.
